Founded in 1994 and headquartered in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, Newland Science & Technology Group is a leading technology enterprise in China. Our subsidiary, Newland Digital Technology Co., Ltd., is listed on the Main Board of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE). With over 8,000 employees, our business footprint extends across more than 130 countries and regions worldwide. Notably, we are the first mainland Chinese enterprise approved by the State Council to invest in Taiwan.

Our Story

1994

Founded and entered the financial terminal market. Two years later, developed China's 1st-generation standalone POS, breaking foreign monopolies, and launched related financial solutions and software.

1998

Xi Jinping, then Deputy Secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, visited Newland, encouraging our commitment to innovation and real economy. Began transforming into an integrated IT service provider.

2000

Listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE: 000997).

2001

Foundation laid for the Newland Science & Technology Park, receiving a congratulatory letter from Xi Jinping, then Governor of Fujian Province. Today, it is a 90,000 m² modern park integrating R&D, operations, and pilot testing.

2003

Released barcode reading modules with fully independent intellectual property, mastering 2D barcode core technology.

2010: Launched the world's 1st 2D barcode decoding ASIC chip. Compared with traditional software decoding, it ensured algorithm security, boosted speed by 10x, and reduced power consumption to 1/10.

2004

Pioneered the "Third-Party Payment" business model in China and launched the new data product "Electronic Receipt", continuously driving the evolution from electronic receipts and vouchers to an innovative mobile QR code payment model.

2009

Bucking the market trend, we expanded overseas and established subsidiaries in Europe and North America. Following official approval from the Ministry of Commerce and review by the "Ministry of Economic Affairs" (Taiwan), we became the first mainland Chinese enterprise to invest in Taiwan.

2014

Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Newland, delivering an inspiring message to our innovators: "Taking the path of innovation is the essential requirement for the development of our country and every enterprise."

2016

Expanded into digital commerce and operational business models, accelerating our transformation into a comprehensive data operation service provider.

2017

Pioneered the "Digital Citizen" concept and released the world's first secure decoding chip for digital citizens. We also partnered with the First Research Institute of the Ministry of Public Security to develop and promote a series of applications based on trusted internet identity authentication technology.

2024

Advanced as a leader in digital commerce. Ranked #1 Global POS Manufacturer by Nilson Report. Consistently ranked Top 3 globally for a decade. We emerged as a leading comprehensive payment service provider in China, empowering the digital transformation of 20 million brick-and-mortar merchants.

2025

Actively embraced the AI era by launching the LLM tailored for the payment industry to build an enterprise-level AI agent factory. Fully integrating AI into smart terminals, we developed a series of innovative products equipped with edge computing capabilities.
